Star Trek writer David Mack has written two short stories released within the span of weeks. In episode 2 of Stage Nine, Mike and John spoke to Mack about "Our Possible Pasts," the story he wrote for the book 2113: Stories Inspired by the Music of Rush. In this episode, Mack tells about his other story, "Midnight Rider," which can be found in Out of Tune, Book 2. We discuss the ballad which inspired the story, the choice of setting, and the challenges and benefits of working in the short format.
